BMS lobbying gets results. In 2013, the Chancellor of the Exchequer scrapped the "beer duty escalator" - a levy on British pubs that the British Beer and Pub Associated claimed was damaging the industry. This successful outcome was thanks, in part, to a BMS lobbying film: a carefully crafted piece of investigative journalism that went on to win the Thwaites Award for Corporate Communications at the Guild of Beer Writers' annual dinner.
